Dee Dee York speelt vrijdag 16 juli live in de show Turbulent van 3fm dj Bert van Lent. Een interactief nachtprogramma waarbij zowel de grenzen van muziek als interactie worden overtreden op een acceptabele manier. Als je in een vliegtuig zit weet je van te voren ook niet wanneer de turbulentie toeslaat, en dat is ook min of meer het geval met dit n8programma. Er staat maar 1 ding vast, en dat is dat Bert elke werkdag om klokslag 04.00 uur van start gaat. Gordels om, trommelvliezen open en radio aan.

Dee Dee York selected for semi finals GPNL

Ramon Govaars of GPNL presented July 8 at Kink-FM radio the semi finalist for the largest and oldest band contest in the Netherlands. Dee Dee was selected with 11 others out of the 35 quarter final participants. The semi finals will take place at:
Saturday September 11th – Ekko (Utrecht)
Thursday September 23rd – Speakers (Delft)
Saturday October 2nd – Gigant (Apeldoorn)

Grote Prijs van Nederland

….De Grote Prijs van Nederland is de grootste en langstlopende nationale muziekcompetitie. Al 25 jaar biedt het dé kans aan talentvolle muzikanten…..Dee Dee York en haar band is geselecteerd uit een recordaantal inschrijvingen die de Grote Prijs van Nederland dit jaar ontving. Dee Dee schreef zich in met drie songs en plaatste zich daarmee de kwart finale die op 5 juni in Plein 79, Den Bosch wordt gehouden. De jury in deze categorie bestaat dit jaar uit Ivo Cooijmans (programmeur W2), Steijn Koeijvoets (voorm. PIAS / OurConcern), Jasper van Vugt (journalist/redacteur o.a. OOR, VPRO) en Guno Oosterling (directeur GPNL). ….
…The GPNL is Holland’s most important and oldest national music competition. Already 25 years offers GPNL an important change to talented musicians. Dee Dee York and her band applied for the competition with three songs and qualified for the quarter finals. This year GPNL received a record number of musicians who wanted to participate but only 35 act were selected. Dee Dee performs June 5 at Plein 79 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch for the first round. Judges for the Rock/Alternative category this year are; Ivo Cooijmans (programmer W2), Steijn Koeijvoets (voorm. PIAS / OurConcern), Jasper van Vugt (journalist/redaction o.a. OOR, VPRO) en Guno Oosterling (managing director GPNL).

Dee Dee York in Stairway to Heaven voor DownTown Café

Dee Dee York en haar band spelen maandag 2 november in Stairway to Heaven, het fameuze rock-café van Henk Westbroek in Utrecht. DownTown Cafe is een programma dat live wordt uitgezonden op KX Radio het snel groeiende internet radiostation van Rob Stenders. Dee Dee en haar band spelen om 22:15 en is via de stream www.kxradio.nl live te horen en te zien. Het programma wordt gepresenteerd door Kees Baars en Fred Siebelink.

America discovers Dee Dee York via Number One Music

In the USA Number one Music is already an important internet music network with approximately 50.000 bands or acts and hundreds of thousands songs in different categories. Dee Dee York’s profile was established in January 2009 and after a slow start, America discovered Dee Dee’s music with more than 86.000 plays by the end of July. Within the same month, Number one Music granted Dee Dee a promo for her success and a few days later Dee Dee’s songs were played over 3000 times per day. For three weeks in a row she shined at number 2 in the overall top 5 chart of the Pop/Rock category.

Dee Dee York, Nikki en Stereo op Impact Helmond

Impact verwacht dit jaar circa 25.000 bezoekers. De voornaamste acts mainstage zijn dit jaar de gerenommeerde hiphopgroep Osdorp Posse, Dee Dee York & Band, Nikki en Stereo. Net als vorig jaar is het mainstage weer aan het Havenplein. Festival Impact telt dit jaar naast de mainstage nog vier podia. Op de Markt is de Dance Area. Dit jaar vinden de cabaretoptredens plaats in Zien Eten en Drinken aan de Markt 10 (voorheen bekend als lunchroom Happetit): Op het podium op de Kasteellaan treden dit jaar onder meer bands van B-stage op. B-stage begeleidt talentvolle Brabantse bandjes in hun ontwikkeling en bij promotie. De B-stage bands die naar Helmond komen, zijn Overgrown, The Sheep, Johnny Stardust en T he 101′S. De Impact Culture zone in de Veestraat en op de Markt bestaat uit onder meer straatmuzikanten, theater, graffiti en het Impact cultuurpodium. Daarnaast wordt er reclame gemaakt voor ideële en culturele instellingen en komt er wederom een cultuurmarkt.

Dee Dee York op Bavaria Open Air 2009

Dee Dee York en haar band openen zaterdagmiddag 29 augustus de tweede dag van het festival Bavaria Open Air in Lieshout. Dee Dee won zondag 17 mei “The Battle Of PUL”. De hoofdprijs van de bandwedstrijd is een optreden tijdens Bavaria Open Air, het evenement met onder anderen Milow, Kane, Racoon, Ilse de Lange, Acda en de Munnik, Rowwen Heze en Guus Meeuwis.
Eerder deze maand won Dee Dee en haar band al een plaats in de finale van Emergenza, de grootse band contest van Noord Amerika en Europa.

Dee Dee York wins semifinal Emergenza @ 013 Tilburg

Dee Dee York and band wins semifinal at the the worlds biggest music contest. She competed with 16 other bands in two rounds and came in first at the semifinal at one of the Netherlands best music venues, 013 in Tilburg. Dee Dee received by far the most vote’s and highest scores. At the finals on June 19, 2009 she will compete with bands from Belgium and the Netherlands. This time on the main stage or grand theatre of 013, Tilburg.
EMERGENZA is Europe’s and North-America’s biggest music contest.
A festival where bands of all musical styles proceed through various elimination rounds, having the opportunity to play in major international venues. The festival is designed for unsigned bands who have not yet found a promotional channel and who are trying to gain notoriety and experience on the national and European music scene. www.emergenza.net
